Directions
- In a medium bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg. Stir in the flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Depending on which and how many flavor varieties you want to make, divide the dough and stir in your preferred flavors. On a cutting board lightly dusted with flour, knead the dough until it's smooth. Cover dough, and chill in the refrigerator at least one hour.
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper. Roll the chilled dough into walnut-sized balls and place on the prepared cookie sheet.
- Bake 12-14 minutes in the preheated oven, or until lightly browned.
- Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 3 minutes, then remove to a wire rack to cool completely. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator or freezer for maximum freshness.
This recipe will make approximately six dozen cookies. Any dough not used immediately can be frozen and will keep for many weeks. Because the dough produces thin cookies, it is not recommended to add chocolate chips, nuts, fruit, or other similar solid items.
